If we accept tradition, then the history of Icon painting began almost during the lifetime of Christ himself. An old legend says that St. Luke the Evangelist was a painter and that he painted a picture of the Virgin with the Christ Child on her arm. Icons are usually connected to the Greek and Russian Orthodox Churches where they are treated as sacred images of Christ, the Virgin, the Archangels and the Saints. Peter's icons are mostly of Greek, Russian Orthodox origin and his religious paintings include Central and South American and Nordic styles.
Process
Using Reclaimed wood, sourced from the planks and beams of demolished German churches, centuries old Mesquite and Oak shutters from Mexico, and oak barrels from the Southern United States.
Saints are paintedafter so-called “podlinniks” and drawings of Orthodox origin (Russian, Serbian and other Eastern countries), most are painted as closely as possible to described originals, Orthodox requirements are followed
Peter Gawenda completed the German Air Force Academy and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the German Air Force.
